The zebra is the star of this painting.

We’ll begin by working through the main shapes of the artwork before gradually building the features that give your zebra its character.

Rather than trying to create a technically perfect animal portrait, we’ll focus on simple shapes, contrast and expressive details.

Then come the stripes.

Those bold black-and-white markings are what bring the painting to life, and we’ll show you how to approach them gradually rather than trying to make every stripe identical.

In fact, they shouldn’t be identical.

Just like real zebras, every finished Striped in Love painting will have its own pattern and personality.

Bring the Background to Life With Colour

Once the main zebra begins taking shape, you’ll have the opportunity to play with colour around it.

The colourful background creates a striking contrast against the black-and-white stripes and is also where you can really start making the painting your own.

Striped in Love has been designed as a relaxed, beginner-friendly creative experience rather than a formal art class.

We’ll guide you through the painting one stage at a time, from establishing the main shapes through to adding the stripes, colour and final details.

You don’t need to know how to draw a zebra before you arrive.

You don’t need to understand colour theory.

And you definitely don’t need to be “good at art.”

The aim is to give you enough guidance to feel confident while still allowing you to enjoy experimenting with the painting yourself.

Sometimes the unexpected brushstroke or slightly wonky stripe ends up becoming someone’s favourite part of their artwork.

At Colourful Wine Art Café & Bar, we believe creativity should be something everyone can enjoy.

Our Paint and Sip sessions aren’t about producing a perfect copy of the instructor’s artwork.

They’re about taking some time away from the everyday, trying something creative, enjoying good company and discovering what happens when you give yourself permission to play with paint.

Some guests arrive having painted before.
